Well it has been my intention since July to write another blog. There was a saying my mother used to say about ‘roads paved with good intentions’ and where they lead!

But seriously why have I not managed to put another blog together in the past 4 months? What have I been doing with my time? Why have I been unsuccessful in getting the blog content swirling around in my head out onto a page?

Have you ever been in that space, with good intention but the the action hasn’t quite followed through?  When good intentions are not actually enough? I find it is easy to be hard on myself about not completing or not finishing something I have ‘intended’ to do (such as write a blog each month).

Perhaps, however, instead of being hard on myself, I should looking at what I have chosen instead of following through on my intention?

So what have I honoured over writing any blogs since July……

~completing an online course

~finishing work at 5.30pm and choosing not to do ‘overtime’

~taking ‘the high achiever’ hat off and giving myself down time

~taking moments to be with my partner

~engaging in rest, or reading or hanging out with friends and family

So here I am now, choosing to put some words on a page and call it a blog, but also able to reflect back on all the ways I have also made choices to honour myself, and my relationship with others in recent months. Life is full of invitations and choices about how we spend out time, and we can have many great intentions about what we may do or choose, but at the end of the day where we put our time and energy is a choice; and even when maybe we feel like there is no choice, (like having to work to pay bills!) we can still choose how to invest our energy.

As we rapidly travel to the end of another year, I hope you are able to look back and be happy with the decisions and choices you have made.
